Amanda Barahona

Amanda Barahona was born the second of Carlos and Barbara Barahona’s four children. Raised in Honduras, Amanda grew up around Nueva Esperanza and had the opportunity to witness its growth and development over the years.

After graduating from high school, Amanda moved to Ohio to attend Cedarville University, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education. She completed her student teaching at the bilingual Christian school she had attended and went on to teach there for two years. She later returned to the United States, where she continued working as a teacher for an additional four years. 

During her time in the classroom, Amanda discovered a particular passion for helping students who struggled with reading. This led her to pursue and complete a master’s degree in Literacy and Second Language Studies. In September 2025, she returned to Honduras to serve at Nueva Esperanza.

Amanda quickly fell in love with working at the ministry. She is grateful to combine her passion for education by continuing to provide reading interventions with her desire to serve children and families by stepping into the role of Child Sponsorship Coordinator.
